Location

I will start off with just a retail store. My store will be located in a shopping center called Pioneer Square on Old Fort Parkway in Murfreesboro. It will be 1,040 sq ft. Which will cost me $12.90 per sq ft, per year, which is $13,416 per year.

Advertising

I would advertise on the radio on the station 92.1. I would adverstise in the morning which would cost me $70 per 30 sec. I would want to run my ad about 5 times per day which would cost $350 per day.

Equipment

There is A LOT that I would need to start my own business/store/brand. I'm sure I would need plenty more equiment than this, if I actually do plan to start one up. But here a some things that I'll need:

CLOTHING/GARMENT RACK - 2-WAY WITH 1 STRAIGHT AND 1 SLANT SQUARE ARMS - CHROME: $42.00

DRESS HANGERS - PLASTIC - CLEAR: $26.85 (Case of 100)

SAMSUNG MODEL ER-150 CASH REGISTER: $129.95

T-SHIRT BAG - PLASTIC- WHITE: $27.24 (Case of 2000)

Cameo White Headless Mannequins #1 With Brushed Chrome Base (Male): $119.00

SSW 1-LINE PRICING GUN: $28.75

SSW FINE FABRIC TAGGING GUNS: $11.50

Singer Sewing Co 7442 30 Stitch Sewing Machine Garment Care: $151

Apple iMac - 4 GB RAM - 3.06 GHz - 500 GB HDD: $1,129

Canon FAXPHONE L90 B/W Laser - Fax / printer: $145

Business Licenses

The cost of a business license in Murfreesboro, Tennessee is $20. For Rutherford County it is $15. This is relatively cheap compared to other bigger cities. I would like to stay close to home, since all of my friends and family are here. But I would not mind moving to a different location if I could not find much success here in Murfreesboro.

I would have a sole proprietorship, because it is the easiest and least expensive. I would have complete control of my brand, and it would easiest for myself to receive all the income and reinvest as I wish. It would also be the easiest to dissolve my entire business, if I desired.

Advertising

The R&B singer, Usher, can be seen in an ad for K.K. in the latest issue of Vibe magazine. Usher's smooth, suave personality and unique sense of style made him a hands down choice for K.K.'s first ad campaign.

Recycled Materials

In another effort to "Go-Green," we have decided to use recycled materials in all of our bags, tags, and catalogs. There are many benefits of recycling and using organic products. These environmentally preservationist benefits range from reducing costs, conserving energy, reducing solid waste, decreasing pollution, improving the quality of waste water, reducing pressure on forests and the environmental impacts of commercial forestry, and improving health standards.

Organic Cotton

To aid in the environmental effort, we are proud to announce that we have begun using organic cotton in our t-shirts. All of our t-shirts will now be 100% Organic Cotton. Some of the benefits of using organic cotton are:
  • Manual farming and organic practices have a lower carbon footprint as the entire process consumes less fuel and energy and emits fewer greenhouse gases.

  • Not from genetically modified cottonseed.

  • Grown with natural rather than synthetic pesticides and fertilizers, no chemical defoliants used.

  • Eco-friendly processing that does not compromise workers' health and helps reduce water and electric use and toxic runoff, e.g. non-chlorine bleach, silicon-free softeners and low impact, azo-free dyes.

  • Strict testing ensures the absence of contaminants like nickel, lead, formaldehyde, amines, pesticides and heavy metals.

  • People with allergies and chemical sensitivity especially benefit from organic cotton clothing, as conventional cotton may retain harmful toxic residues. Even if you don't have sensitive skin, organic cotton will just feel better against your skin.

Customer/Clientele

A customer of K.K. would be a young male age 18-35. He is very well educated. The younger customer is a student in college. The older clientele live a busy, fast paced lifestyle with their careers varying in business, art, music, and entertainment. He is a go getter with a very creative and imaginative mindset. He likes to work hard during the week, and also play hard on the weekend. He is urban, with a touch of sophistication. He is classy, but in the streets. He is a customer of K.K.
